About

My name is Carl Zulauf. I’m a 25 year old Computer Programmer residing in Omaha, NE. I have a plethora of hobbies and interests, and I am also very opinionated and well spoken. My interests include everything from motorcycles and photography, to video games and politics.

I created this blog for a number of reasons, but the main reason is as follows:

Sometimes you just have to publish things yourself…

I regularly participate in a number of forums for various topics; However, sometimes I feel the need to share an opinion on something that doesn’t fit within the normal bounds of any of those forums. When I say “share” I don’t necessarily mean anyone needs to read it, I only mean that I want an outlet to record my thoughts and offer them up into the ether for anyone else who might want to look.

I have been doing web programming for about 7 years as a hobby, and recently began doing enterprise programming for a large investment firm. Like many web developers and web programmers I have had many homepages over the year. Where I diverge from my peers, however, is that I have let all of them die over time. I have never kept a cohesive site to showcase, discuss, and catalog my little projects. For me, I believe one of the reasons I have never been consistent at having a personal presence on the web is that I always tasked myself with building it from scratch, and my ambition would always get the best of me. I would never be satisfied with the result and would eventually get to a point where I felt the only solution is to “start over”. This time I am taking a different approach. I am taking the “end user” approach and not doing a single bit of coding myself. This site will be wordpress powered, and any upgrades or changes I decide to make to it must be made within the limitations of wordpress.

The projects I showcase and discuss will continue to be mostly “from scratch” tools and will likely not be wordpress related.

I want to make it clear that the scope of this blog will extend far beyond my programming. I have many opinions to share about technology, society, politics, and how those topics intermingle and overlap. This blog is not designed to attract readership, it is designed for me to journal and catalogue my interests and opinions. If no one ever reads this but myself the site will still serve the purpose I want it to.

Thank you and welcome.
